How do you raise your iron levels?

12 Apr

Ok so I FINALLY got my blood levels back from my 6 week check up. Seriously it’s been nearly 2 weeks with them constantly telling me to call back… call back… call back… grrrrr.  Anyways!  My iron was lower than 6 after all the blood loss due to my tear in my uterus and so the nurse wasn’t going to take my blood saying there’s no way it would be back up to normal. Normal for her was anywhere between 11 – 11.5. Well I called her up this afternoon (I finally got to speak to her!) and she informed me that my levels are in fact normal! Not only are they normal they’re all they way up to 13! She said she was very surprise by this but happy to hear it. I give all the credit to my placenta pills.

I keep meaning to explain my placenta pills on here.  I have loads of pictures and everything.   I suppose now I’ll need to get on that since they worked a treat for me. 🙂

When Herbalife doesn’t work

7 Apr

Herbalife does not work if you only drink one shake a day.  Herbalife does not work if you forget to eat, don’t drink your shake, and wind up eating cookies instead.  Herbalife does not work when you have two shakes in a day but also eat KFC, cookies, and milkshakes.  Herbalife does not work if you mix it with icecream.

If you do all of the above you gain 2 lbs.

A cesarean is major surgery

4 Apr

I went to see the nurse the other day for my six week check and told her I was still sore and still a bit exhausted even though I feel I’m getting enough sleep. I was really frustrated that I couldn’t do something as simple as laundry and cooking without being in pain and feeling like I just ran a marathon. Anyways she told me something that really put into perspective for me. Having a section, especially one where a transfusion is needed, is a lot like a hysterectomy. Most women who have a hysterectomy are off for a good three months. Yet those who have sections see it as so routine they forget they just had major surgery! We’re expected to not only watch after a new baby but most of us have other kids and a house to run. And most of us are expecting to do that in a few weeks after!

My point is take it easy. Super easy. And don’t expect much from yourself until around week 12. Do what you can and on your good days do more just don’t have any expectation on yourself so that you can’t fail those expectations. This has been huge for me to hear personally. I’ve now taken a step back and am concentrating on me and baby first before anything else. Sometimes all I have energy for is laying in bed with her. And you know what, that’s ok.

My first mother’s day!

3 Apr

Here in Scotland it’s mother’s day!  I’m used to it being in May but I’ll be happy to take it a few month’s early. 🙂  Most of my life I’ve dreamnt of what it would be like to actually get to celebrate mother’s day on the other end.  I love that Mr.nosoChubby made me feel so special today.  It was like my birthday!  I was given pancakes in the morning and a few presents “from” Phoebe.  I could definitely get used to this.

So for all you mother’s out there whether you’re in North America or Europe… HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!
